Chuddy

Two terrified mothers clash in A&E one night – Heather appears to have the upper hand but it’s Jax who shows real character. Heather eventually learns from Jax that she will have to face reality if she’s going to help her daughter through the crisis threatening her sanity.
Heather Lawson (40-50): a well-preserved and rather posh middle-aged woman. She has an inborn (and largely unconscious) dread of being seen to be less than perfect in any way.
Jax Bennett (40-50): a survivor whose life has never been easy. She is straightforward and honest, with an enormous heart.
Kris (25-45): a competent young hospital doctor. Compassionate but not sentimental.

Maggie and Ted, two pillars of the local community, are preparing for an important dinner with the President of the Bixeter Rose Growing Society. The unexpected arrival of Maggie’s long-estranged daughter has a tumultuous effect on their plans and on their lives.
Maggie (60-70): a middle-class woman in her early sixties. Her driving force is her need to be looked after. She is terrified of being alone and having to rely on herself.
Ted (60-70): Maggie’s second husband, a few years older. He is an unpleasant, controlling man who will do anything to get what he wants, while stating loudly that it’s all for other people’s good.
Janey (30-40): Maggie’s long-estranged daughter (in her thirties) who now has some health problems and is looking to reconcile with her mother.
Sam (45-65): a genial, conventionally-successful man, current President of the Rose Growing Society.
