Silver Pine at Manchester ADP

Manchester ADP is fast becoming an institution within the city. It is a genuinely wonderful thing. Through their regular Scripts Aloud evenings, they have promoted more new writing – and, as an inevitable corollary – more acting and directing than any other organisation in Manchester, I reckon.

Writers submit a new piece which gets an appraisal and, sometimes, a rehearsed reading by professional actors and directors. It’s a simple concept but it provides an inexpressibly valuable service. It’s almost impossible to get feedback on new writing, let alone public readings, without events like this.

In addition, they also produce audio dramas and run an actor’s agency. And all for nothing.

Four Silver Pine pieces have undergone the ADP treatment:

No Weaver Nor Woman at Hope Mill

The Mr Men

Slippers

Chuddy at Oldham Coliseum
