• Once Upon A Time In Trieste The Trailer

Once Upon A Time In Trieste has been produced as an audio drama exclusively for Buxton Festival Fringe 2020.

A 19th Century princess and a 20th Century revolutionary are trapped in a fairy tale castle, both struggling to come to terms with momentous events they have helped to shape. Over a night of prayer, cards and violence, they confront each other – and their own inner demons. By morning, only one of them is left.

Episode 1 drops tomorrow. Until then, please whet your appetite with our trailer.

  • It’s a wrap!

I’ve finally got around to gathering together the details, reviews, pictures and links for our adventures at the Fringes this summer with Once Upon A Time In Trieste.

Carl Bownas as Pinko and Sarah Gordon as Charlotte at Hope Aria Academy

Read all about it on the production page!

  • Until Next Time

So, we’re done. For the moment. And what a way to go out – a sell-out show and a lovely review.

Lots and lots of people to thank. Always first and foremost: Simon, Sarah and Carl for taking the whole thing from the page, throwing it into the air and bringing it to sparkling life.

In Manchester: Zena, Lisa, Debbie and everyone else at GM Fringe. Naomi, Sean and Demi at Hope Aria – thank you for taking such good care of us and for all the extra signs!

In Buxton: Keith and Stephanie, Caroline and everyone at the Green Man Gallery – sorry for the noise!

Lastly and definitely not leastly, all those of you who came and watched. Thank you for your support, thank you for your lovely comments and thank you even for the (thankfully few) less-than-lovely comments. It’s all feedback, after all.

    Until next time. ❤️

Here’s a lovely write-up from the wonderful folk who run GM Fringe. All about the play, our esteemed director and Silver Pine itself. We’re very flattered!

  • Good to go

Here they are then – the wonderful team that is Once Upon A Time In Trieste. Everything is now in place. We have a cast and a director, we have dates and venues, we have an increasingly-idiosyncratic collection of props, including a gun, a rosary and some cheese. We’ve even managed to coordinate our schedules to fit in some rehearsal time.

The only thing that's missing is...YOU!

  • Could you put a bullet in Mussolini?

Silver Pine’s new play, ONCE UPON A TIME IN TRIESTE, will have its world première at the Greater Manchester Fringe Festival in July, swiftly followed by two intimate performances at the Buxton Fringe Festival, later the same week.

Come with us as we lose ourselves in overlapping worlds of Habsburg imperialism, Italian fascism, prayer and violence in a city on the edge of time. See if you can work out where one world begins and and the other ends. God knows, we can’t.
